We provide opportunities for collaboration for all LGBTQ+ professionals across the Midlands.
The Alliance Network was established in Birmingham in 2016 by local LGBTQ+ professionals. Our mission was to create a supportive environment for LGBTQ+ professionals throughout the West Midlands. In 2020, this mission was expanded to cover the East Midlands, with the establishment of a second steering group.
Since our founding, we have brought together LGBTQ+ networks and individuals working across the Midlands. Our members come from a wide range of organisations and sectors, from some of the largest firms in the region to smaller organisations looking to connect. We offer collaboration opportunities across LGBTQ+ Employee Network groups and provide a network for those whose organisations don’t have their own.
Throughout our 10-year history, some of our proudest achievements have been:
- Establishing annual Pride meets, attended by over 100 local LGBTQ+ individuals
- Created a strong network of LGBTQ+ thought leaders from a wide range of industries and sectors
- Hosted workshops for local LGBTQ+ community leaders and organisations, working towards a supportive environment across the Midlands
- Shared best practice and resources on LGBTQ+ issues in the workplace
- Created a platform for LGBTQ+ individuals to share their experiences and stories, with a particular focus on the workplace
Our Ambition
To be the primary Midlands based LGBTQ+ organisation, supporting and connecting individuals, organisations and networks in making the Midlands the best place to work for LGBTQ+ people in the UK.

Professional & Personal Development
Providing opportunities to share challenges, opportunities and best practice in actions individuals and organisations can take to help increase LGBTQ+ inclusion.
Collaboration & Partnership
Actively develop strong collaborations and partnerships with other networks, companies and community groups to provide events and activities that reflect the Midlands LGBTQ+ community and increase the reach of the network.
Promoting LGBTQ+ Diversity & Inclusion
Help promote the need for organisations across the Midlands to improve LGBTQ+ Diversity and Inclusion.
